Wir freuen uns, dieses Jahr das 1. Türkische Film Festival Berlin (TFFB) mit all den unterschiedlichen Facetten, die das türkische Kino zu bieten hat, präsentieren zu dürfen.

Vom 14. bis 18. September hält das TFFB im BABYLON eine vollgepackte Erstausgabe mit einem breit gefächerten Programm bereit.

Im Mittelpunkt unseres Festivals steht eine Auswahl von ca. 25 Spiel-, Dokumentar- und Kurzfilmen aus der Türkei bzw. aus türkischer Produktion, realisiert von international erfolgreichen Künstlern sowie neuen Talenten unterschiedlicher ethnischer Herkunft, sowohl im historischen Rückblick als auch mit aktuellen Produktionen, die wichtige, aktuelle Themen aufgreifen. Hinsichtlich der Auswahl an Filmen, die sich jeglichen Genres und jeglicher Gattung bedienen können, und der Auswahl an Filmemacher*innen legen wir größten Wert auf Vielfalt und Diversität und richten unser Programm darauf aus. Von Queer über Experimental bis hin zum Liebesdrama und spannenden Thriller erstreckt sich die Programmierung der Arthouse-Filme.

Das TFFB begreift sich als Förderer gegenseitiger interkultureller Verständigung und als Brückenbauer zwischen den Kulturen. Im Rahmen des Festivals sollen durch die emotional ansprechende Darstellungsform des Mediums Film, kulturelle Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede sensibel angesprochen werden und ein Dialog entstehen.

Wir wollen Filmemacher*innen mit dem Berliner Publikum in Verbindung bringen und eine Synergie kreieren, die zu tieferem Verständnis und kulturellem Austausch führt. Dementsprechenden sind wir äußerst erfreut, dass unsere Bemühungen von der Berliner Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Europa sowie der Filmfestivalförderung de⁺ des Goethe Instituts in Kooperation mit dem Auswärtigen Amt der Bundesrepublik Deutschland gefördert werden.

Das Türkische Film Festival Berlin wird von ArtHood Entertainment produziert, einem in Berlin ansässigen Weltvertrieb für Arthouse- und Autorenkino, der sich auf Filme aus dem Nahen Osten konzentriert, die eine frische und künstlerisch innovative Perspektive auf relevante aktuelle Themen bieten.

This year we are pleased to present to you the 1. Türkisches Film Festival Berlin (TTFB) with all the different facets Turkish cinema has to offer.

From September 14 to 18 in BABYLON, the TFFB holds a jam-packed first edition with a wide-ranging program.

Our festival will focus on a selection of approximately 25 feature, documentary and short films from Turkey or Turkish production realized by internationally successful artists as well as new talents of different ethnic backgrounds, both in historical retrospect and with current productions who address important, current issues.

With regard to the selection of films of any genre and the selection of filmmakers, we emphasize with great importance the diversity and variety and gear our program towards it. The programming of the arthouse films ranges from queer to experimental to romantic drama and exciting thriller.

The TFFB sees itself as a promoter of mutual intercultural understanding and as a bridge builder between cultures. The festival aims to sensitively address cultural similarities and differences through the emotionally appealing presentation of the medium of film, and to create a dialogue.

We want to connect filmmakers with the Berlin audience and create a synergy that leads to deeper understanding and cultural exchange. Accordingly, we are extremely pleased that our efforts are supported by the Berliner Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Europa as well as the Fund for German film festivals de⁺ of the Goethe-Institut in cooperation with the German Federal Foreign Office.
