Synopsis: The unique music of Turkish guest workers and their offspring is something very special: This specific musical culture existed only in Germany. Between assembly line jobs and racism, homesickness and the arrival of family, a sound culture emerged that was as unique as it was diverse – from the psychedelic hustle and bustle of Derdiyoklar to the rapper Muhabbet to Radio Yilmaz and various wedding bands singing in Kurdish and Arabic.

Die einzigartige Musik türkischer Gastarbeiter und ihrer Nachkömmlinge ist etwas ganz Besonderes: In dieser Form gab es die musikalische Kultur nur in Deutschland. Zwischen Fließbandjobs und Rassismus, Heimweh und dem Nachzug der Familie entstand eine ebenso einzigartige wie vielfältige Klangkultur – vom psychedelischen Treiben von Derdiyoklar über den Rapper Muhabbet bis hin zu Radio Yilmaz und diversen auf Kurdisch und Arabisch singenden Hochzeitsbands.
